I know what you might be thinking – what about soundproofing at McCaddenSpace Studio?
If so, this will be of interest to those who shoot video and are concerned with audio. Since McCaddenSpace studio has been established there have been hundreds of successful video interviews, commercials with dialogue or other sound-oriented productions without any need for additional soundproofing. Although we are quiet for a stage due to being on a side street, there is still a small amount of occasional noise in the alley with which to contend.
Now, thanks to improvements with an Insul-quilt acoustical barrier, this problem has been drastically diminished. These are high-tech sound blankets not to be compared to with furniture pads or moving blankets. We have used them in a variety of ways to cover the doors and an adjacent window on the alley.
The red door to the studio entrance can be covered as shown with access through a flap. For maximum soundproofing, it can be completely covered with rope ties and the front entrance used. The inside window blanket is raised up and down with pulleys and has the added benefit of blackout capability. The 12’ sliding stage door has Insul-quilt built inside and has a sound barrier gasket surrounding the opening. All in all, this amounts to a huge benefit to video productions whose audio demands are critical.
